Leota Baxter
Leota M. Baxter, 97, of Herington, died April 1 at Medicalodges of Herington.
Born Oct. 11, 1912, on the family farm near Elmdale in Marion County, to Henry and Caroline Otellia (Wambsganss) Koegeboehn, she was a homemaker and teacher at Lyon Valley School and Cottonwood Falls.
She graduated in 1929 from Herington High School and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Herington.
She married Walter R. Baxter June 25, 1935, in Herington. He died Feb. 28, 1987. A brother, Dale Koegeboehn, and her parents also preceded her.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Sears of Wichita and Carolyn Baxter of Bullhead City, Ariz.; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday morning at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Herington, with the Rev. Bill Peterson officiating.
Burial followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.
