Library receives 3rd straight honor
For the third year in a row, Marion City Library has received a four-star rating from the magazine Library Journal.
Nationwide, only 259 of 7,409 public libraries received three-, four-, or five-star ratings. Twelve were in Kansas.
Libraries in Alma, Ellinwood, and St. John received five-star ratings.
Joining Marion in receiving four-star ratings were libraries in Chetopa, Inman, LaCygne, Moundridge, and Topeka.
Three-star libraries were in Neodesha, Oakley, and Overbrook.
The ratings rank libraries on number of items checked out, both electronically and physically; number of visits; attendance at programs; and public Internet use per resident, all in comparison to data for other libraries with similar budgets.
