Lila Bredemeier

Mrs. Lila “Lucille” Judd Bredemeier, 90, of Marion, Kansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 14, 2016. She was born May 25, 1925, in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank E. and Sylvia Judd of Cottonwood Falls; her husband, Charles “Junior” Bredemeier, of Marion; her sister, Doris L. Foster; her brother, Gene Judd of Cottonwood Falls; and her daughter, Shirley Bredemeier of Northwood, New Hampshire.

Lucille was a graduate of Chase County Community High School in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. Upon graduation, she worked for the phone company in Cottonwood and Marion, and later Marion National Bank in Marion. Lucille and Junior were married in Marion in February of 1945.

She was an accomplished trumpet player and entertained many local groups with her musical skills. She also could yodel and enjoyed demonstrating that to all who would ask her to. Lucille loved to paint, especially china and oils; enjoyed bird watching; and she adored her dog, “Precious.” She and Junior loved to camp and were active members of the Marionettes Camping Club. They began camping in a tent and eventually moved up to a nice RV camper. They were a terrific couple who loved life and each other.

Lucille is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” Bredemeier and wife Carole of Marion; grandchildren, Wade Bredemeier and wife Christine, and Jeremy Bredemeier and wife Mari; and her great-grandchildren, Emma Joy, Dillon Carl, and Jase Walker.

Lucille will be lovingly remembered by the Judd and Bredemeier families as well as many longtime friends.

A funeral service was 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016, at Zeiner Funeral Home of Marion. Interment was in Marion Cemetery.
