Lincolnville levy remains steady

Staff writer

Lincolnville’s 2010 budget, as approved Aug. 3 by the city council, is set at 58.682 mills, the same as in 2009, despite a drop in valuation from $829,952 in 2009 to $810,186.

The new budget assumes a rollover of $13,000 from this year and sets the maximum spending authority at $187,217.

“The council has done a good job of managing finances, and we’re in good shape,” Treasurer Clay Simons said.

The budget includes final payment on a city tractor and payment for replacing sewer lines under U.S. 56/77. Those will lower the town’s indebtedness to $29,225.

The council accepted the resignation of city employee Steve Podszus, effective Sept. 15.

The council also voted to accept free Internet access from Eagle Communications in exchange for the company’s use of the community center.

The council approved $1,000 for the town’s Octoberfest celebration.

Christina Peterson was advised to inform Anita Svoboda that she is authorized to improve landscaping at the community center, keeping expenditures under $300.
