Local FFA chapter receives awards at annual state convention

Members of Marion/Florence FFA Chapter attended the 82nd annual state FFA convention June 2 through 4 in Manhattan.

The local chapter received recognition for placing in the gold division — top 10 percent of all chapters — in the community development division. The chapter also placed in the silver division — top 20 percent of all chapters — in the chapter award areas of chapter development and student development.

More 1,500 FFA members and guests from within the state attended.

Delegates heard retiring addresses of the state FFA officers, information from the national FFA secretary, and motivational speakers. They participated in business sections and selecting state officers.

Local members participated in a leadership workshop and attended all sessions of the convention. They also toured the Kansas Artificial Breeding Service Unit, as well as the Veterinary Medicine Hospital at Kansas State University.

Marion/Florence members attending were Adam Cope, Mitch Ragland, Adam Molleker, Shayla Rahe, Andrew Huber, Corey Shields, Montana Percell, Jacob Cope, and Aaron Molleker. Mark Meyer accompanied the group as sponsor.
