Losses mount for Centre Cougars

The Centre Cougars suffered their third consecutive loss Friday at Goessel after losing Jan. 25 to Wakefield and Jan. 29 to Solomon. All three losses were on the road.
Centre led for three quarters but lost in the end, 46-41.
Ty Simons, Justin Deines, Cory Brunzell, and James Wyatt combined for 12 points in the first quarter, to give Centre a 12-5 lead.
They maintained that lead in the second quarter to lead, 21-14 at halftime.
The momentum swung the other way in the third quarter as the Bluebirds surged ahead 14-8 to narrow Centre’s lead to one point.
The Cougars maintained a lead in the fourth quarter until the five-minute mark, after Goessel had an eight-point run. A trey by Wyatt with 26 seconds remaining pulled Centre within three points, but two free throws by Goessel sealed the loss.
Deines made 14 points and Simons 13. Brunzell had six points, Wyatt five, Kodey Johnson two, and Grant Srajer one.
Deines had eight rebounds and Wyatt had six.
