LuEtta Frey

LuEtta June (Schmidt) Frey, 82, passed away Dec. 30 at North Newton.

She was born June 23, 1929, to Abraham and Elizabeth Schmidt in Goessel. She married Raymond E. Frey on May 19, 1949, at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Newton. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2007.

LuEtta was a lifelong member of Tabor Mennonite Church. She was a homemaker and worked as a personal care attendant and nurse aide.

She is survived by two daughters, Marcene Entz of rural Newton, and Melissa Beitler of Berne, Ind.; a son, Sherwin, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three sisters, Emma Reimer of Loveland, Colo., Nola Koehn of Newton, and Viola Ratzlaff of Goessel. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Waldo, Philip, Marvin, Harlow, and Eldon; and one sister, Verna Reimer.

A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Newton, with Pastor Karen Andres officiating. The family can be greeted one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will occur at Tabor Mennonite Cemetery at a later time.

Memorials can be made to Mennonite Central Committee or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 303 E. Main, P.O. Box 96, Goessel, Kansas 67053.
