Lydia Batt

Lydia Batt, 98, died June 20 at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.

Born March 19, 1912, in Canada, to J.H. and Christina (Hopp) Schimpf, she was a homemaker and seamstress. She also worked at Heinz Jewelry.

On May 4, 1945, she married Charles Batt in Ottawa.

Her husband, Charles; a stepson, Herb; four brothers, Henry, Louie, Alex, and Ezra Schimpf; and four sisters, Rachel McGowen, Leah Stenzel, Emma Allen, and an infant sister, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a stepson, Dean Batt of Marion; a sister, Hanna Wood of Hutchinson; and two step-grandchildren.

Viewing will be 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion. The Rev. Josh Wesner will officiate.

Burial will be in Strassburg Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with Emmanuel Baptist Church and St. Luke Living Center in care of the funeral home.
