Marion County Mad About Poverty representative Jackie Volbrecht announced at the Chamber of Commerce meeting Friday that MAP had sold enough shirts at the Marion County marshmallow roast March 24 to enter Marion County in a Circles of Hope initiative.
Volbrecht originally said that the group needed to raise $20,000 to pay for the anti-poverty program.
Two people will receive training for the program in July.
In other business:
- St. Luke Hospital will host a lunch, learn, and live program from noon to 1 p.m. today in the hospital clinic basement. A St. Luke physical therapist will give the presentation.
- PRIDE President Pam Bowers said there will be farmer’s markets twice a week in Marion this summer. Shana Thornhill has taken charge and expanded the program.
- Bowers also said there would a be a joint Florence and Marion Celtic Celebration on June 26 at the Doyle Creek Mercantile hosted by Judy Mills. Knocknasheega Celtic Band will perform.
- The library will host a mystery garden tour July 7.
