Marion County Emergency Medical Service tallied 82 calls in March, the same number as in March 2009, EMS Director Steve Smith told Marion County Commissioners Monday.
Of those, 24 were medical emergencies, 18 transfers, 13 motor vehicle accidents, nine falls, seven no-transports, six standbys, four cardiac emergencies, and one canceled call.
The Hillsboro unit responded to 35 calls; Marion had 27; Peabody, 11; Florence, five; Tampa, four; and the backup unit did not respond. Goessel First Response was called into service three times and Lincolnville once.
Through three months, ambulances have responded to 284 calls, slightly ahead of the pace of 278 calls in 2009.
Commissioners wrote off $2,439 of uncollectable bills, down from $3,796 for the first quarter of 2009.
Smith and Florence crew chief Scott Zogelman met with commissioners in closed session for 10 minutes to discuss personnel. No action was taken on return to open session.
