Mardell Hicks
Mardell L. Hicks, 75, of Herington, died May 30 at Herington Municipal Hospital.
She was born Sept. 27, 1935, at Emporia, to Earl B. and Vera Marie (Herman) Taylor.
She was a homemaker and a teacher. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She received a degree in 1953 in home economics from Emporia State University and taught in Lincolnville for one year and Centre High School for a year and a half.
She married the Rev. Eugene Hicks on May 31, 1959, in Emporia.
A sister, Lola Jean Ott, and her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene, of Herington, two daughters, Laura Hicks of Wichita and Marian “Mary” Weber of Herington; two sons, Ross of Winfield and Matt of Abilene; a sister, Deaun Huff of Santa Fe, N.M.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Herington. The Revs. John Riebhoff and Clark Davis will officiate.
A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
