Marion Economic Development, Inc., is looking for Marion residents interested in serving on its board.

The organization will have its annual meeting and director election at 6:45 a.m. Dec. 15 at Stone City Café, Marion.

Membership includes those who live in Marion, own a business, or operate a business in Marion.

Four student director positions also are available for interested Marion High School sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Applications are available through the MHS guidance counselor or Heitschmidt.

Primary objectives of the corporation include creating wealth, facilitating private investment, and benefiting the community by increasing employment, payroll, business volume, housing, city sales tax income, and city property tax base.

The board will take positions by majority vote of the board of directors on issues within the community that will influence economic development.
