A team of freshmen agriculture education students from Marion High School placed fourth May 13 at the South Central District FFA Freshman Ag Mechanics contest at Chaparral High School.

Activities at the contest for participants included tool identification, a written safety test, a problem solving activity, identification of parts on a metal ironworker, and a welding skill.

During the welding skill competition contestants were required to use a 6011 electrode to make a lap weld with one-fourth inch plate and run a stringer bead on the piece as well.
