Marion man charged with June indecent liberties

Staff writer

A Marion man was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and aggravated indecent solicitation of a child.

According to Marion Assistant Chief Clinton Jeffrey, the victim was under 14 at the time of the June incident.

Aaron Unruh, 39, Marion, was formally charged Aug. 29 and an arrest warrant was issued Aug. 30.

Unruh has had two prior criminal cases in Marion County District Court.

In December 2011 he was charged with two counts of sexual battery. In May 2012 he pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor battery and was sentenced to a year’s probation.

In October 2015, Unruh was charged with battery of a law enforcement officer, interference with law enforcement, disorderly conduct, lewd and lascivious behavior, and pedestrian under the influence. In March 2016 he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and pedestrian under the influence. The other three charges were dismissed and Unruh was given a suspended sentence of six months.

Unruh’s former wife on Friday filed a protection from abuse petition seeking to prevent him access to their daughter. The petition states she fears he will take the child and flee the state.
