Police Report

Officers conducted follow-up investigations and traffic stops, performed maintenance to vehicles, worked on reports, attended meetings, provided vehicle identification number inspections, and checked streetlights.

May 30: A non-injury accident was investigated. A funeral escort was provided.

May 31: An attempt was made to serve a civil process. A theft was reported.

June 1: Radar was run. A power outage complaint was checked. A business door was found open and owner was notified.

June 2: Two dogs were picked up for running at-large. Assistance was provided with the filming of a movie. A concerned citizen met with an officer regarding a parking issue. Officers checked a stop sign that was knocked to the ground.

June 3: An activated fire alarm was checked. A suspicious person was reported. Response was given for an out-of-control child. Emergency medical services personnel received assistance with a call. Traffic control was provided for an air ambulance.

June 4: A civil process was served. A bicycle was reported stolen. Department of Social and Rehabilitative Services personnel received assistance with a home visit. A non-injury accident was investigated. Officers responded to an activated alarm. Security was provided in Central Park for Chingawassa Days.

June 5: Traffic control and security was provided at the park for the festival. A possible sick coyote was checked.

June 6: Officers assisted when an airplane made an emergency landing on a highway near Marion. Radar was run on Main Street. An individual met with an officer regarding a traffic complaint. A report of a suspected drunk driver was checked.

June 7: Officers responded to a 911 disconnect. A dog was picked up for running at-large. An unlocked business door was secured. Assistance was provided to a sheriff’s deputy with an accident.

June 8: Assistance was provided to SRS with a home visit. A non-injury accident was investigated. An animal complaint was filed of baby birds falling from a nest. Traffic control was provided at the railroad crossing on Main Street.

June 9: Assistance with an investigation was provided to the Independence Police Department. Two thefts were reported. Response was given to a dog running at-large. A possible fight was reported. A harassment complaint was filed. A concerned citizen met with an officer regarding underage drinking.

June 10: Officers performed routine duties.

June 11: Response was given to a dog running at-large. Criminal damage to property was reported. A 911 disconnect was checked. A motorcycle fire was reported.

June 12: Assistance was provided to a citizen with a smoke detector. A power outage was reported. A deputy sheriff received assistance at St. Luke Hospital with a case. A 911 disconnect was checked.

June 13: A 911 disconnect was checked. Response was given to a report of a vehicle stranded in floodwaters.

June 14: An individual met with an officer regarding a parking complaint. A non-injury accident was investigated.

June 15: Traffic control was provided for an air ambulance. A welfare check was conducted. Harassment was reported. A noise complaint was filed.

June 16: SRS received assistance with home visits. A citizen met with an officer regarding a harassment complaint. A sick animal was checked. A lost motorist received assistance.

June 17: A citizen met with an officer regarding a suspicious vehicle. An abandoned vehicle on U.S. 56 was checked. A funeral escort was provided. An officer met with an individual regarding a disabled vehicle. An unlocked business door was secured. A citizen met with an officer regarding a harassment complaint.

June 18: A non-injury accident was investigated. The driver of a vehicle disabled on Main Street received assistance.

June 19: Officers met with a citizen regarding harassing phone calls. A theft was reported. EMS personnel received assistance with a call. Traffic control was provided for an air ambulance. A firearms training was conducted. Suspicious activity was checked. A domestic dispute was reported.

June 20: A stranded motorist received assistance with a flat tire. A theft was reported. Response was given to an activated alarm. An unlocked business door was secured.

June 21: A theft was reported. A civil standby was provided. An officer met with citizens regarding a driving complaint.

June 22: Officers provided supervision for community service workers and met with the Marion County attorney regarding cases. A barking dog complaint was checked. A welfare check was provided.

June 23: A noise complaint was checked. An officer met with the county attorney regarding cases. A bicycle was recovered. A domestic dispute was reported.

Thursday: Response to a domestic dispute resulted in an arrest. Officers responded to a possible second domestic dispute.

Friday: A parking complaint and a dog running at-large were checked. A concerned citizen met with an officer about a possible underage drinking party, which was checked and everything was OK.

Saturday: A funeral escort was provided. An escort was provided for Homes for Our Troops ceremony. A dog complaint was filed. A non-injury accident was investigated. A stalking complaint was reported. Assistance with a domestic dispute was provided to a sheriff’s deputy. A fireworks complaint was reported.

Officers issued 31 warnings, served five notices to appear, and made one arrest.
