Police report

Officers worked on reports, conducted follow-up investigations and traffic stops, and provided vehicle identification number inspections.

Feb. 7: Officers responded to a report of a child out of control.

Feb. 8: School zones were patrolled. Emergency Medical Services personnel received assistance with a call. A dog running at-large was reported. Found property was returned to the owner.

Feb. 9: School zones were patrolled. A dog complaint was filed. A non-injury accident was investigated. A skunk complaint was checked. Identi-Kid program was provided for Cub Scouts.

Feb. 10: School zones were patrolled. Junk vehicle complaints were reviewed. Officers attended a meeting. Identify theft was reported.

Feb. 11: School zones were patrolled. A non-injury accident was investigated. Fraud was reported. An officer met with a concerned citizen. A suspicious vehicle was checked.

Feb. 12: School zones were patrolled. A runaway was reported. EMS received assistance with a call. Assistance was provided to Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitative Services regarding follow-up investigations.

Feb. 13: Radar was run on Main Street. A concerned citizen met with an officer.

Feb. 14: A dog was reported running at-large.

Feb. 15: School zones were patrolled. A suspicious person was checked. An individual was transported to Prairie View in Newton. A non-injury accident was investigated. A domestic dispute was reported.

Feb. 16: School zones were patrolled. A parking complaint was checked. Response was given to a report of a gas leak. EMS received assistance with a call. A reckless driving complaint was filed.

Feb. 17: School zones were patrolled. A dog complaint was checked. Officers met with concerned parents regarding a child abuse case.

Thursday: School zones were patrolled. A domestic dispute was reported. A criminal trespass complaint was filed at Marion High School. A runaway was reported. A welfare check was provided. A barking dog complaint was filed. An abandoned vehicle was checked. Officers checked streetlights.

Friday: School zones were patrolled. Response was given to OASIS with an out-of-control student.

Saturday: Welfare checks were provided. A sheriff’s deputy received assistance with a driver possibly driving under the influence. Assistance was provided with a fatality accident on U.S. 56. A reckless driving complaint was checked.

Officers issued 11 warnings and four notices to appear, and made one arrest.
