Marion scouts in transition

Cub Scouts Pack 102 in Marion has a new cubmaster, Javan Koehn. He was a scout in Inman growing up and received his Eagle Scout award in 2004.

Koehn recently moved to the area with his wife and two daughters. He wanted to help locally, and the timing was perfect because the pack had been looking for a cubmaster. New assistant cubmaster Jake Schedel is also new to the area.

The pack had been struggling with low attendance before it reconvened after the summer in August. This fall, the scouts had three pack meetings, a campout in October, and first aid training in November with an appearance by Lifestar helicopter ambulance. At the December pack meeting, nine scouts received their Bobcat awards.

Upcoming events include a Pinewood Derby in February, a Scout Sunday at Aulne Methodist Church, Blue and Gold Banquet in March, camping in April, and a fishing derby in May. The pack tentatively plans to have a Raingutter Regatta at Chingawassa Days in June.
