Marion Senior Center correspondent

Marion Senior Center has a new flagpole and flag, but is waiting for a light to be installed to fly the flag permanently.

Shirley Moore celebrated her birthday April 2 by taking treats to the senior center.

There will be a Golden Years Spring Festival on April 19 in Salina. Activities include a talent show, contests, bingo, and a dance.

The senior center had an Easter meal April 4, with ham loaf and sweet potato casserole. Cathy Clyde and Juanita Ediger decorated placemats. Janet Bryant read, “All I Need to Know About Life I Learned From the Easter Bunny.” There was an Easter parade with Shirley Bowers as pianist. Thelma Blosser brought hats for people to wear. The kitchen crew got in the spirit and attached paper plates to the sides of their heads to be in the parade.

Senior Center Day is April 18. There will be a program after lunch.

National Volunteer Week begins Sunday and continues through April 21.
