Seniors to celebrate national cowboy day

Senior Center correspondent

Those dining at the senior center Friday are being urged to wear cowboy hats, boots, bandanas, and other cowboy apparel to observe National Day of the Cowboy.

Diners will sing “Home on the Range” and hear recitations of cowboy poetry.

Pastor Andrew White of Valley United Methodist Church spoke after a senior center business meeting July 18.

The center served as host July 17 for the board of directors for the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging. The board met at Marion Community Building and dined at the senior center.

Forty representatives from the agency’s 18 counties attended and were interspersed with regular diners to facilitate conversation.

On Aug. 1, Kristi Lackey of Hillsboro will talk about her book, “Stress Less, Soar More.”
