Marion Senior Center correspondent

Linda Chase of Winfield gave a presentation on foster grandparenting at Marion Senior Center Nov. 30. Two Marion foster grandmothers, Marie Hoffner and Madonna Schafers, shared their experiences and the rewards of the program.

Marilyn Stegall was welcomed as a dining room volunteer.

After lunch on Dec. 14, Sue Clough will lead a Christmas carol sing-along, accompanied by Shirley Bowers.

The Marion County Senior Citizens board will hold its annual meeting on Dec. 16 at the center.

Volunteers are needed to embroider sets of tea towels.

Marilyn Geis took treats to the Marion Senior Center for her birthday Nov. 18. It was also Mickey Mouse’s birthday — Dorothy Conyers and LaVaughn Klose celebrated with jewelry and clothing items. Connie Fisher and Sue Clough led patrons in singing the Mickey Mouse theme song.

The center welcomed Hilltop Manor residents Nov. 23. Someone told a story about children smuggling turkeys from a turkey farm, saving them from being eaten.

There will be a program after lunch today.
