Marvin Warkentine

Marvin E. Warkentine, 86, died Dec. 11, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Born April 23, 1923, in Goessel, to Henry and Katie (Schmidt) Warkentine, he married Thelma Manka April 19, 1947, in Peabody.

He retired as a crew chief at Hesston Corporation.

His parents and an infant brother, Benny, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma, of Peabody; three daughters, Carol Powell of Woodland Park, Colo., Paula Thiessen of Topeka, and Annette Weems of Peabody; two sons, Blaine of Emporia and Denis of Topeka; two brothers, Ed of Topeka and David of Newton; a sister, Rozella Warhurst of Newton; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday morning at Peabody United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Ragland officiating.

Burial followed in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church and Peabody Alumni Association in care of Peterson Funeral Home, Newton.
