Maurice L. Hollar

Maurice L. Hollar, 78, retired Financial Vice President and member of the Board of Directors for Stelbar Oil Corporation, Inc., passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012.

He was born in Abilene, Kan., to Frank and Gladys Hollar and later moved to Marion, Kan., with his family. He graduated from Marion High School and Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He married Marlys Jean Rupp on June 24, 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Al Hollar, Dick Hollar, Lee Hollar, and Don Hollar.

He is survived by his wife, Marlys Jean; and son Brad (Michele), of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sister Loyette (Ken) Swanson of Springfield, Mo.; granddaughters Amanda and Brittany Hollar of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At the time of his death he was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and Crestview Country Club. Maurice was past President and Director of the Petroleum Accounting Society of Kansas, and a past Director and Treasurer of the Petroleum Club of Wichita. Maurice enjoyed traveling, playing golf and spending time with his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Eastminster Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.  Memorial services were be at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 North Webb Road, Wichita, Kan., on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 2 p.m. Downing and Lahey East Mortuary.
