Mauro Medina

Mauro L. Medina, 86, of Florence, died Dec. 8, 2008, at Lakepoint Nursing Home of Augusta.

He was a retired Santa Fe Railroad employee.

Born Nov. 21, 1922 in Zacatecas, Mexico, he was the son of Llario and Donasiana (Loera) Medina.

He married Teresa Perez Sept. 2, 1961 in La Sierita, Mexico. She survives.

Other survivors include four daughters, Juanita and Timothy Wilson of Augusta, Maria and Marc Anderson of Independence, Ky., Patricia and Andrew Wells of Loveland, Ohio, and Isabel and Brian Purcell of Helena, Mont.; a sister, Ysidra Balerio of Sedgwick; and 12 grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Florence.

A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish, St. Patrick Catholic Church, Florence.

Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Florence.
