Melvin L. Dirks, 87, of Moundridge died March 16, 2012. He was born Aug. 1, 1924, to Isaac and Rachel (Koehn) Dirks.

He was a member of the Morning Star Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. He was a retired electrician for Hesston Corp.

He married Vera Koehn on Sept. 12, 1948, at Tampa. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Bruce Dirks of Tampa, Brad Dirks of Canton; two daughters Charlene Becker of Galva and Donnalee Johnson of Gruver, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Dirks; one son-in-law, Howard Becker; one granddaughter, Heidi Dirks; four brothers, Jake, Tobias, Gust, and Irvin Dirks; and five sisters, Hanna Koehn, Mary Unruh, Leona Koehn, Martha Unruh, and Irene Rhodes.

The funeral was Monday at Morning Star Church, Tampa. Visitation was Sunday at the church.
