MHS class of 1946 holds reunion

Members of the Marion High School class of 1946 met Sept. 24 for a 65 year reunion.

After having breakfast together, the 12 members in attendance rode in the Old Settlers’ Day Parade and participated in an afternoon program in Central Park. The class of 1946 was the oldest class in attendance.

The reunion reconvened in the evening at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, where the class reminisced.

Class members attending were Wallace Good of San Diego, Calif., Ronald Atkinson of Springfield, Mo., Laverna Beaston of Marion, Jeanne Carpenter Johnson of Topeka, Howard Collett of Marion, Harold Conyers of Marion, Marjorie Frazier Davis of Springfield, Mo., Wanda Hannaford Burk of Colorado Springs, Colo., Virginia Hayen Downing of Marion, Mary Tibbets Glidden of McPherson, Betty Tiemeier Coughlin of Las Cruces, N.M., and Betty Weber May of Marion. Thirteen members were unable to attend, and 14 members are deceased.

The class plans to have another reunion in five years.
