The Marion High School cross-country team is loaded with returning talent and set for excellent seasons the next two falls, new coach Rebecca Hofer said.

“We will have a young team this year, since we don’t have any seniors,” Hofer said. “However, I believe that we have a lot of talent and potential in our runners.

“We have a very strong junior group who I have great expectations for this next season in their performance and leadership. It should be a great season, and I am excited to get it started.”

Returning team members from 2010 are Jacob Cope, Nicholas Davies, Jarred Hague, Jordan Hett, Quinton Hett, Timothy Knolla, Clark Kroupa, Patrick McCarty, Sarah Eurit, Elizabeth Goentzel, and McKenzee Remmers.

New additions to the team are Jenevieve Corona, Kaelyn Thierolf, and middle school runner Garrett Alleven.

This is Hofer’s first year coaching cross-country. She said she expects that will be the biggest change from last year.

“I know I still have things to learn, and the students will have to get used to my coaching style,” Hofer said.

The first cross-country meet is Sept. 1 at Abilene. The meet begins at 4 p.m.
