The Marion High School debate team has had a busy season preparing for its current debate topic, “The United States federal government should substantially increase alternative energy incentives in the United States.”

The students have been preparing for the topic by listening to guest speakers and traveling to debate sessions.

Member Patrick Hodson went to Emporia State University for a session, some went to model debates in Hutchinson at the Kansas State Fair, while others heard from a Baylor University professor on the topic at Wichita Northwest High School.

“Since debaters have creative ideas about this practical topic, we are looking forward to a productive, educational year,” Griffith said.
