MHS FFA takes first in competition

Members of Marion-Florence FFA Chapter placed first in the greenhand division Nov. 22 at South Central District FFA Dairy Career Development. The event was hosted by Hillsboro FFA Chapter at Marion County Fairgrounds, Hillsboro.

Participants were required to evaluate and place six classes of dairy cows and heifers. They also had to prepare and present a set of oral reasons.

Individually for Marion, Nicholas Meyer placed second, Alicia Maloney sixth, and Lauren McLinden ninth.

Members of the first-place MHS greenhand team were Clint Kroupa, Katey Ehrlich, McLinden, and Meyer.

Others competing in the greenhand division were Jordan Laurin, Caitlyn Maloney, Kelli Hess, Abbey Smith, Amanda Stuchlik, Kaitlyn Frese, Taylor Heidebrecht, Grif Case, Lance Knolla, James Jones, and Timothy Knolla.

MHS FFA places fourth in horse competition

South Central District FFA Horse Evaluation Career Development event was Nov. 22 at Marion County Fairgrounds. MHS FFA placed fourth in the greenhand division.

Participants were required to evaluate six classes of horses and present a set of oral reasons.

Caitlyn Maloney placed seventh overall individually. Other team members were Alicia Maloney, McLinden, and Meyer.
