MHS forensics takes 9th at state

Marion High School forensics team placed ninth of 49 schools and three students placed in the top 5 in their events at the 3A speech and drama tournament Saturday in Wichita.

Coach Janet Killough said all Marion team members received “I” ratings in their events.

“I thought everyone did a wonderful job,” Killough said. “What I admired the most was the team’s support of one another. Everyone was so excited and good to each other.”

Individually, Sam Kelsey placed fourth of 60 students competing in prose, and Cade Harms and Grant Leffler placed fourth of 62 improvised duet acting (IDA) entries.

Elizabeth Meyer and Adam Kjellin placed seventh in IDA, Shyla Harris placed seventh in prose, and Tori Boyd placed ninth in poetry.

Jarred Rahe also received a “I” rating in prose at state festival.
