MHS grad retires from teaching

Former Marion resident Ron Weber, son of Virgil and Anita Weber, retired this spring after 36 years as a teacher and coach.

Weber graduated from Marion High School in 1975 and received a bachelor’s degree in math, physical education, and health from Kansas Wesleyan University.

After two years at Bennington, he taught math and phys ed and was athletic director for four years at Centre before spending 10 years at Lawrence, teaching math and coaching tennis and basketball.

While in Lawrence, he received a master’s in sports education from the University of Kansas.

In 1996, he and wife Sharon Christensen, son Scott and daughter Hannah moved to Hutchinson, where he taught math and coached until after Hannah’s senior year on the tennis team.

In retirement, he plans to play tennis and golf, be with his family, and paint.
