The Marion High School forensics team took second place in the Heart of America league meet April 2 in Bennington.
Marion swept the top three places in poetry, with Issac Baldwin claiming top honors, followed by Caroline Collett and Andrew Kjellin.
Baldwin and Ryan Nelson won the duet acting competition, and Jaydee Schafers and Justin Rahe placed first in improvisational duet acting.
Schafers added another first-place finish in prose, and Amanda Stuchlik and Annie Whitaker placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Jennifer Fruechting took second in solo humorous acting. Kjellin placed third and Collett fourth in solo serious acting.
Nelson teamed with Kadecha Gueary to place third in improvised duet acting. Dylan Goebel finished sixth in informative speaking.
“These students represented our school very well and only missed first place by two points,” MHS forensics sponsor Janet Killough said.
