The Marion High School track and field team was split, competing in two locations this weekend.
Most of the team traveled Friday to Smoky Valley.
Parker Ash won the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, seven inches. Colten Johnson placed first in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12 feet, and second in the javelin, throwing the spear 152-3. Jordan Hett also won multiple medals — gold in the 1600-meter run (4 minutes, 58.2 seconds) and silver in the 3200-meter (10:38).
Whitney Gordon was the only Lady Warrior to win an event, leaping 5 feet in the high jump.
“We had others like Jaclyn DeForest and Brady Hudson who are doing a great job of getting us into position as a team by scoring points in their respective events,” coach Grant Thierolf said.
Four Marion seniors — Julia Zeiner, Nick Klenda, Sheldon Boone, and Tylor Neil — participated in the KU relays in Lawrence Friday and Saturday.
Julia Zeiner placed fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 37-7.
“Great competition that will only make us tougher as we continue the season,” Thierolf said.
