Michael Laird Jackson

Michael “Mike” Jackson, 48, of Cedar Point died Thursday at his home. He was born Sept. 24, 1964, in Emporia to Laird “Larry” and Marjorie McAuliffe Jackson.

He was a 1983 graduate of Chase County High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Kansas State University in 1988. He was a cattle rancher and feed salesman.

He married Mary L. Wilson on June 10, 1989, in Oberlin.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, Coleman Laird, Clayton Ralph, and Garrett Michael Jackson; his mother, Marjorie Jackson of Cedar Point; and a sister, Marsha Lynn Jackson of Cedar Point.

He was preceded in death by his father, Laird Jackson.

Visitation was Saturday at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls.

A celebration of life was Sunday at Chase County Elementary School in Strong City. Pastor Warren Olson of Elmdale United Methodist Church and the Rev. Russ Magaw conducted the service. Interment was in Cedar Point Cemetery.

The Mike Jackson Scholarship Fund has been established to award scholarships to Chase County High School graduates.
