Middle school teams seeing success

Staff writer

Midway through their seasons, basketball teams at Marion Middle School have earned winning records.

Boys’ coach Gary Hett said his players were great hustlers, worked hard, and were fun to coach.

So far this season, the A team is 6-2, the B team 8-0, and the C team 1-3. The A team has scored 386 points while allowing only 173.

Jack Schneider leads the team with 110 points, followed by Tyler Palic with 65, and Zach Stuchlik with 48. The boys have four games remaining, at Sedgwick, home against Remington, at Hutchinson Trinity, then at home against Inman Feb. 2.

Girls’A team undefeated

The girls’ A team is 8-0, winning their games by an average of 24 points. Their closest was a 24-22 victory over Moundridge. The largest was a 63-19 victory against Centre.

The A team is led by Kourtney Hansen, who averages 16 points and almost 11 steals per game. She surpassed 20 points three times and posted a double-double five times.

Other key contributors include Corin Parmley, Sam Richmond, and Jessi Lewman.

The girls’ teams face the same remaining schedule as the boys’ teams, with a league tournament beginning Feb. 6 at Inman. Statistics were provided by head coach Sandy Black.
