Mildred Elizabeth (Kennedy) Karnowski, 89, of Hillsboro, died Jan. 26.

Born Dec. 21, 1921, in Hillsboro, to William and Salma (Barchent) Granada, she was an elementary school teacher and a missionary teacher.

She married Lyle Henry Kennedy who died in 1945. She then married Philip Karnowski who died in 2008.

A sister, Eunice Marcella Hume, also preceded her.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte A. Kennedy Takahashi.

Services were Tuesday at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Grant officiating.

Burial was in Lorraine Baptist Cemetery, Lorraine.

A memorial fund has been established with Delta Kappa Gamma in care of Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
