MMS A-team now 3-2 on the season

The Marion Middle School volleyball A-team took Smoky Valley to the brink Thursday, but fell in three games, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25.

Briana Hall, JayDee Schafers, and Montana Percell each had a block during the match.

“The girls are doing a great job of getting the ball up for a spike each time,” coach Deanna Thierolf said. “I am just really pleased with their progress and hard work.”

The team is now 3-2 on the season with matches at Halstead and Collegiate left during the regular season.

The B-team remained undefeated at 5-0 with a 25-13, 25-17 victory against Smoky Valley.

Megan Richmond had 10 serving points, Kaelyn Thierolf seven, Erin Meierhoff four, and Morgan Makovec three.

The C1-team lost 25-20, 25-13, and C2 lost 25-23, 25-11.

Reno Valley

All four MMS team defeated Reno Valley Sept. 25 at home.

The A-team knocked of Reno in two games 25-22, 25-22.

Hall, Katey Ehrlich, and Balee Shiplet led the team with seven serving points.

The B-team kept its undefeated season alive, crushing the Vikings 25-15, 25-5.

Thierolf led with 15 points, Kelli Hess had 12, and Richmond had eight.

“The team is playing well together,” Coach Thierolf said.

The C1-team won 25-20, 25-19 with Lauren McLinden recording 10 serving points in game one.

Megan Davies had five points in game two.

Abby Smith had 13 serving points and Emily Cyr had 10, as C2 knocked off Smoky Valley 25-8, 29-27.

The Wilcats will play Thursday at Halstead and Oct. 16 at Collegiate, before the Oct. 16 league tournament at Halstead.
