MMS teams go 4-2 against Hillsboro

All six Marion Middle School basketball teams played Hillsboro on Thursday.
The A team boys lost, 45-34, in a close game. MMS head coach Kelly Robinson said the game was tightly contested throughout but Hillboro used a hot second half to pull away. Zach Robson had 12 points to lead the Wildcats in scoring.
The B team boys defeated Hillsboro 35-27. Robinson said that Marion dominated the inside play of the game. Nathan Cyr was the Wildcats top scorer with 17 points.
The C team won 40-16. Nine of the 11 Wildcats who played in the game scored. Nick Meyer had a team-high 10 points.
The girl’s teams faired similarly against their county rivals.
The A team defeated Hillsboro, 27-21. Head coach Casson Schmidt said that the Wildcat guards had a good night defensively: Katey Ehrlich, Megan Richmond, and Kelli Hess each had multiple steals. Richmond and Ehrlich lead all scorers with 10 points each.
The B team lost to the Trojans, 27-6. The Trojans outscored the Wildcats, 22-1, in the first half, but behind the four points of Megan Davies the Wildcats bested the Trojans in the second half 7-5.
The C team beat Hillsboro, 8-6. Shayla Kline lead the stifling Wildcat defense with five steals.
