More donations needed for Community Christmas

Marion Community Christmas organizers are concerned. Referrals of families in need of assistance have increased but, at this point, donations are down.

“Lots of folks are needing help this year,” organizer Margo Yates said. “Our plans are not to decrease food boxes but stocking stuffers, socks, and blankets may have to go to the wayside this year if things don’t pick up.”

Angels with gift suggestions will be displayed at businesses after Thanksgiving Day. Donors may select an angel, purchase a gift, and leave at the participating business.

The gifts will be collected and distributed closer to Christmas.

Businesses participating are Central National Bank, Marion National Bank, Tampa State Bank in Marion and Tampa, Duckwall’s, Marion Pharmacy, Pilsen State Bank in Lincolnville, and Cottonwood Valley Bank in Florence.

Families and children who live in USD 408 and USD 397 can qualify for assistance.
