Mystery solved in Lincolnville

Staff writer

Lincolnville City Council member Cristina Peterson, who serves as the chairman of the Lincolnville Community Center, told the council at its Monday meeting that a large coffeemaker at the community center had been missing for several months.

It appears that a caterer who had served a meal at the center accidentally took the coffeemaker when she left, and she eventually returned it.

Council member Joe Vinduska said he recently learned that the City of Marion tacks delinquent sewer bills onto property taxes. Mayor Barb Kaiser said a policy change would be needed for Lincolnville to do that. In the last few years, the city has tried going the court route but found it was expensive, she said.

Events chairman Kristen Ebaben said the city is ready for the Octoberfest celebration on Saturday. The theme is “Country Roots and Cowboy Boots.”

Judging by the weather forecast, festival goers will have to bundle up. Highs are forecast in the mid-50s with a chance of sprinkles. Kaiser said stage performances in the park would be moved to the community center if rain threatens.

The next city council meeting will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 5.
