Naomi Ruth Schmidt (Boettcher) Baker, 85, died Monday at Asbury Park in Newton. 

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton. Private inurnment will be at Marion Cemetery.  

She was born Dec. 7, 1931, to Dan S. and Susie (Jost) Schmidt in Hillsboro. 

In 1950, Naomi married Gene Boettcher, who preceded her in death in 1974.  In 1987, she married John L. Baker, who also preceded her in death in 2002. 

She is survived by stepson Michael Baker of Wichita; stepdaughter Diana Baker of Bend, Oregon; two step-grandchildren; sister Joyce Eppstein of Burbank, California; and brothers, Kenneth Schmidt of Marion and Don Schmidt of Wichita.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Good Shepherd Hospice.
