New fitness center gets moving

Staff writer

Equipment stands ready in the workout room of Diamond H Fitness in Marion, but work on the building is not yet complete.

Trucks arrived last weekend with exercise equipment for the fitness center’s customers to use to shape or strengthen up.

Owner Amy Harshman said equipment already in place included three treadmills, three ellipicals, one stair stepper, one helix machine, two Procore machines, two recumbent bicycles, some rowers, and “lots of weight equipment.”

“We’ll get just a few more pieces,” Harshman said.

The workout room is 95 percent finished, Harshman said. Other rooms in the building — including classroom, office, bathrooms, and a shower room — are still being finished.

Jay Christensen and Dylan Pippin worked on drywall and installed insulation Tuesday in the cardio workout room and classroom.

Harshman said preparation for construction began in September.

“We’re really behind where we hoped to be, but we’re pushing to be open in late January or early February,” she said.

Single memberships will cost $40, and discounts will be available for families, seniors, and length of membership agreement, Harshman said.

“It’s exciting and nerve-racking all at once,” she said. “We hope the community really enjoys it and embraces it, and we’re excited to see it happen.”
