New members inducted into National Honor Society at Centre

Conner Montgomery, Ally Basore, Abigail Svoboda, Cassie Thompson, and Kristin Vinduska were inducted May 13 into the Centre High School chapter of the National Honor Society.

The induction ceremony was the opening segment of an evening that highlighted students’ achievements in academics and athletics.

Grant Srajer was recognized for completing all four years of high school with a grade-point average of 4.0. Timothy Vinduska received the Dale M. Dennis award.

Counselor Jill Day presented the following scholastic scholarships: Kansas Scholars — Kyle Methvin, Ty Simons, Amy Makovec, and Srajer; Marion County Farm Bureau — Makenzie Deines; Tampa State Bank — Makovec, Srajer, Chad Mueller, and Bryanna Svoboda. Tri-County Telephone — Simons.

Senior Citizens of Marion County —Simons; PEO — Deines and Svoboda; Ron Mille Memorial — Srajer and Makovec: James Weber Memorial — Deines and Srajer; Bud Peterson Memorial — Vinduska; Robert Kleinschmidt Memorial — Vinduska; Lauren and Clara Mowrer Memorial — Srajer, Makovec, Simons, Vinduska, Methvin, Deines, and Svoboda.

Makovec and Vinduska were named Kansas Honors Scholars, and Srajer was named Governor’s Scholar.

Several students won citizenship awards from the Kansas State High School Activities Association. Simons won the Wendy’s Heisman award.
