Noller’s team wins women’s scramble

Judy Noller of Marion and her teammate, Kathy Miller of McPherson, won Thursday’s nine-hole scramble at Marion Country Club.

Their combined score of 33 was three strokes ahead of the second-place team of Angela Albin and Paige Brunner, both of Marion.

A team from Newton finished another stroke back to take third in the tournament’s championship flight.

Scorecard playoff tie-breakers were needed in the first and second flights, where the low scores were 41 and 44, respectively. All three of the top teams in those flights were from out of the county.

In all, 18 teams from Augusta, Council Grove, Douglass, Herington, Hillsboro, Marion, McPherson, Rosalia, and Wichita competed.

Noller also won a skill prize with the longest drive on No. 4.

A social hour and dinner followed the tournament.

Second flight — 1. Marty White and Sue Brant, Council Grove (44). 2. Becky Moore, Douglass, and Jacque Sundgren, Rosalia (44). 3. Mary Jo Heyka and Olive Brollier, Council Grove (44).

Longest putt on No. 3 —Brant (179 inches).

Closest to pin on No. 9 — Terri Wittrig, Wichita (17 inches).
