The Marion High School novice debaters had a winning record Saturday at Sacred Heart.

E.J. Obermeyer and Andy Shipman defeated Great Bend and Hutchinson.

They had two splits against Hutchinson and Salina South.

Both debaters were ranked as the number one speaker in two rounds.

Levi Anderson and Nilas Bronnert were timekeepers for the event.

“Our brave novice debaters did a great job of taking instructions and doing their best,” coach Mary Griffith said.
