Burglary of vehicle to commit theft
Thomas Comstock, 55, Florence, reported $140 stolen from a vehicle at his residence in the 400 block of W. 6th St. between 10 p.m. Jan. 28 and 4 p.m. Jan. 29.
Misdemeanor theft of property
Kenneth Hein, 61, Durham, reported the theft of 50 gallons of unleaded gasoline from his residence in the 700 block of Lawrence St. Sheriff’s deputy Mike Ottensmeier estimated the value of the loss to be $100.
Hillsboro
Driving under the influence of alcohol
After being stopped for allegedly driving 74 in 55 mph zone, Kendall Hein, 40, of Marion, was arrested after officer Gary Slater said he noticed a bottle of liquor in Hein’s vehicle at 9:49 p.m. Feb. 11 on W. F St. in Hillsboro. Slater conducted roadside sobriety tests, and reported Hein’s blood-alcohol content to be over the legal limit.
Battery
Charges are pending against a 33-year-old Wichita man after he allegedly was involved in an altercation at 12:30 a.m. Feb. 8 at 108 1/2 N. Main St. in Hillsboro. No name was given for the suspect and no one matching his description was listed on the county jail roster. Officer Brad Richards said the Wichita man refused to give police his real name.
