SHERIFF’S

Attempted voluntary manslaughter

James Scopel, 53, Peabody, was the victim of an alleged attempt at voluntary manslaughter with a rifle during a sudden quarrel or in the heat of passion between 7:21 and 8 p.m. Aug. 23 at 110th Rd. between Limestone and Mustang Rds. Diane Muzyka was arrested by sheriff’s deputies at the scene. Officer Bronson L. Shipman reported alcohol was a possible factor in the events.

Criminal damage to property

Diane Muzyka, 53, Peabody, was victim to criminal damage to property between 7:18 p.m. and 9:16 p.m. Aug. 23 at 110th Rd. between Limestone and Mustang Rds. Vegetation and plants (trees, grass) valued at $125 were damaged. Sheriff’s sergeant Mike Ottensmeier reported alcohol was a possible factor in the events.

Burglary; criminal damage to property

Stephanie Moss, 48, Hillsboro, reported that a window screen valued at $10 was damaged at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church in rural Hillsboro between 7 p.m. Aug. 25 and 8:28 a.m. Aug. 27.

Theft

Ethan Oborny, 20, Durham, reported he was victim to theft between 12:01 a.m. and 8 a.m. Aug. 27 after a trail camera and Craftsman 5-ton floor jack valued at a total of $220 were taken from his vehicle in a parking lot on 290th Rd. between Jade and Kanza Rd.

Criminal damage to property

A cattle panel fence valued at $100 and owned by Leon Nikkel, 77, Lehigh, was damaged between 8 a.m. Aug. 26 and 11:48 a.m. Aug. 28 on K-15 between 170th and 180th Rds.

Criminal damage to property

A Vans 2002 Dodge valued at $400 and owned by Donald Duart Jr., 53, Peabody, was criminally damaged between 7:25 and 7:40 p.m. Aug. 27 in the 500
