Propeerty damage

Parks and Recreation director Margo Yates reported that a shelter house at Central Park had been vandalized with spray paint between 5 p.m. Sept. 12 and 8:15 a.m. Sept. 13. The damage was valued at $100.

Aggravated battery

Methann Levis-Chavez, 28, and Katelin Levis-Chavez, 25, both of Marion, were reported to be victims of aggravated battery by an ex-spouse and acquaintance that occurred in the 200 block of 2nd St. between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Sept. 17.

Domestic battery

Scott Bradley, 43, Topeka, was reported to be a victim of domestic battery with use of a personal weapon (hands, feet, etc.) by a child in the 300 block of Elm St. between 6 and 6:24 p.m. Sept 9. Officer Duane McCarty’s report indicated Bradley was not injured.

Burglary and theft

John Loomis, 46, Marion, reported theft of three chain saws valued at $550 from his residence in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. between midnight and noon Aug. 19. Assistant chief Clinton Jeffrey reported two of the items were recovered Aug. 20.

Possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and speeding

A vehicle stopped for traveling 76 mph in a 65 mph zone at 3:45 p.m. Saturday was found to contain .3 grams of marijuana, a marijuana grinder, and a marijuana smoking pipe, total value $25.

Forgery, misdemeanor theft

Casey’s General Store employee Jeanette Schaefer was witness to forgery and theft at the store between 1:45 and 1:50 p.m. July 31. A subject wrote a check for merchandise from an account that did not belong to him for $100 in merchandise, including an Italian pinwheel, Winston Red 100 box, gasoline, and business checks. This was reported to police on Sept. 14. Assistant chief Jessey Hiebert reported a suspect has been identified and charges are pending.
