Misdemeanor theft of property

Minnie and Mickey Mouse figurines, a Merry Christmas globe, and an inflatable Christmas decoration were stolen between 1 and 7 a.m. Dec. 9. from the residence of Carolyn Spencer, 70, in the 400 block of W. 5th St. in Florence. Sheriff’s officer Wilma Mueller estimated the value of the loss to be $320.

Battery; bodily harm

A 31-year-old Newton man reported Nov. 26 that a 5-year-old girl was bruised when she was returned to him by his estranged wife, who lives in Hillsboro. Officer David Funk reported a protection from abuse order was issued, and the case is still under investigation.

Shoplifting

Two white females are suspected of shoplifting a 1.75-liter bottle of vodka from R and D Liquor around 2:45 p.m. Dec. Anjanette Vinduska, 39, Marion, reported the theft, and police are reviewing video evidence.
