Ola Blackford

Ola “Fern” Blackford, 91, of Whitewater, passed away Nov. 18, 2010, at Salem Home in Hillsboro.

She was born Nov. 12, 1919, in Englewood. She was the daughter of Ralph and Queen Hardesty.

On Jan. 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Boyd Blackford.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, keeping house, watching television, and liked dancing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd, on March 4, 1989.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter Twila and husband Steve Lackey of Hutchinson; four grandchildren: Robin and husband Dan Kyle of Florence, Virginia Tarbox of Hutchinson, Warren and wife Mollie Partridge of Peabody, and Angie Todd of Wichita; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, and many other friends and relatives.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed, but her family is at peace knowing she has been reunited with her husband, Boyd.

Visitation with family was 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

A graveside service was 2 p.m. on Nov. 22, 2010, at Whitewater Cemetery, Whitewater.

A memorial fund has been established with Salem Home Patient Fund in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St, Marion KS, 66861.
