Olson re-elected, other race too close to call
Marion City Council candidate Chris Meierhoff was a clear winner Tuesday night but the other two candidates will have to wait until 8:30 a.m. Monday to find out if they won a seat on the council.
Only four votes separated Jerry Kline and Dick Varenhorst and there are seven provisional ballots.
A high turnout, 35 percent, of Marion voters re-elected Mayor Mary Olson to another term as mayor.
The commission will determine which provisional ballots will be allowed by state statute, which will determine the winner.
Councilmen Gene Winkler and Stacey Collett did not seek re-election.
